How long have you been a part of the team?
Since July 2017! I started working with temp agencies in different warehouses but didn’t like a lot of the places. Vision X is convenient to where I live and it’s comfortable to work in (airconditioning!). It’s a good fit for me because I am a bit of a tech geek and it felt more like a serious role. I already knew a bit about lighting after I interviewed Nick and Tony. So what I learnt at school and what I am learning here, correlate well.
What do you do for the company?
My position is as a picker and a packer. Basically, a sales order comes out from either Mark, Shane or Mike. We use the SAP guns to put in the order number and takes it directly to the product to pick. Then we package and ship it through the online system, which is connected to our online system. It allows the pickers and packers to ship orders out themselves instead of having the office team do it. We then organize the shipping, whether it be through UPS, FED EX or DHL. We load the product on pallets depending on which carrier they are going with. Before SAP, it was much harder to keep things clean and organized. It makes it much more efficient. One of the managers used to have to sign off on every order because the process was much more manual and prone to “people errors”. Now the gun is basically verifying everything we do to help reduce mistakes. A system change is always a bit rough a first but now it’s exxtremely useful. Whether it’s FireTech or Vision X product. Before SAP, we had to understand every single product so more confusing lines had to be left to certain people. But now through coding, SAP means anybody can pick and pack.
Why do you come to work every day?
I like customer service and I think I am good at talking to people. Other jobs just invovle going through the motions every day. Here we learn something new every day and I like that.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I like to play basketball, spend time with my little brothers and sister and going up to Bellview and Seattle to see a movie.
What is your favorite product?
The most exciting product, while it’s not the most fun to pick, is the FireTech 72″ brow light. It is so cool. I like it because it’s on a whole other level. We see all these small little bars and then there is this monster. They’re like the super duty pit masters. . I don’t get to see it on very often but the bigger stuff is cool.
Tell us something that will blow our minds!
I was a college baseball player in Vancouver, Washington but unfortunately I just couldn’t afford it. So I moved back down closer to Auburn and went to college nearby.
